Summer School on Decommissioning Innovations to be held in KINGS with cooperation with the IAEA from 22 to 26 July 2024
Nuclear D&D and Radwaste Research Centre of KEPCO International Graduate School (KINGS DRC) has been established as the IAEA Collaborating Centre on nuclear decommissioning in September 2023.
KINGS will host the Summer School on Decommissioning Innovations to be held at KINGS from 22 to 26 July 2024. Participants are selected among the IAEA member states by reviewing their applications by the IAEA and KINGS DRC.
The purpose of the Summer School is to exchange lessons learned from practical cases of nuclear decommissioning, focus on Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) and to disseminate best practices. The Summer School will be held in English.
Tentative AGENDA is classified into following six sessions.
Session 1: Learning Aspects on Nuclear Decommissioning
Session 2: Current Status of Decommissioning in Member States
Session 3: Decontamination, dismantling and demolition technologies – recent
status and emerging innovations
Session 4: Decommissioning regulations related to technologies and innovations
Session 5: Digital Transformation and Virtual Reality (VR) application to decommissioning
Session 6: Group activity and conclusions
